The first time I encountered belly dance I was blown away from the sheer muscle control that it requires. I have been active my entire life and for the first time I was challenged with the task of controlling individual muscles and muscle groups that I had never had to isolate before. This was the physical activity that I was looking for! Something challenging but feminine and beautiful, difficult but rewarding and above all it was full of women who were there to have fun. There was no judgment of size, shape, past experience or ability, just a group of women getting together to learn something wonderful! The beauty that is in the belly dance community is breathtaking!

The feelings I have for this art has grown through the years, and it is exciting to discover so many different varieties and new challenges around every corner. Every time I turn around I have new inspiration from other dancers! Seasoned dancers who have been dancing for years who have mastered their craft and have carved out their own niche. New dancers who are discovering themselves and where they will fit into this community. My inspiration comes from this gorgeous community that is the broad term belly dance.
